About Blog!

Here at Stitch One, Zoom In, we're all about crafting. We're going to use this blog as a place to post the fun things that we create, things we've found that inspire us, things that we think are funny or weird, or merely things that we want to share with each other and all of blogland!

Here are some of my personal sources of inspiration via the internet:

**Happiness Is...**
Sublime Stitching
And silly tv shows like: Archer, American Dad, Futurama, the Daily Show

Hope you like our blog!

The Other Half

Hey blogland, Gayle here! I am the other half that makes up the creative team of Stitch and Zoom. I consider myself Zoom, if you will. My sister is more of a Stitch. She didn't really tell you the full of extent of how much of a knitter she has become in the last year, and the amazing talent she has at it! So therefore, she is Stitch and I am Zoom, and sometimes we switch places depending on where our crafty endeavors take us!

I live in Charlotte, NC. Which is much too far from where my sister lives. We are 4 years apart, so while she is still living the college dream, I have a "real world" job. My job is great and I love what I do (I am a paralegal) but my creative side is not something that flourishes at work. While I play with paper all day, it is not the paper that I prefer. My creative outlet comes on the weekends when I have the proper time to devote to "scrapbooking". That's my thing; paper, adhesive, pictures, and words. More of than not, I'm going to make a mini book. I am still working on becoming comfortable with my own layouts.

I have a penchant for handmade crafts. I like to have something to do with my hands. I rarely sit still and relax. but that's another issue in of itself. I am on the hunt for a typewriter, a vintage one, preferably a blue smith and corona. I bid on a few on ebay, and now found one on craigslist, just waiting to hear back from the seller! I am also going to be learning to machine quilt this summer. Karen wants a quilt for winter and I've been dying to make one! I always have a million projects going on. I started to type more about what I like to do, but it was beginning to sound too much like a personal ad. So this is me; I work, I craft, I sleep. and do a lot of other fun things in between.

In the next few posts we will explain why we've created this blog and what our craft goals are for the summer! We hope you enjoy :)

About Me!

Hello blogland and welcome to Stitch One, Zoom In! I'm Karen, and I represent the younger half of Stitch and Zoom. I'm currently based out of Fayetteville, Arkansas, where I recently moved in to a fabulous old apartment, go to the University of Arkansas to get my degree in Archeology with a minor in History, and spend as much time as I can with my amazing and supportive boyfriend, Chris.

I enjoy playing video games (especially those of a zombie nature), reading into the long hours of the night (a lot of fiction, but more recently some historical nonfiction (and the occasional novel...)), doodling in class, devising new ways to work with my oh-so-tiny kitchen, and hanging out with some great friends that I've made here. This summer, I'll be taking a History of Russia since 1861, and a History of Modern Terrorism (it's weird how crazy-excited i am for this class) at the University to get my minor moving along.

When I'm not in class or working at my local yarn shop (Hand Held Knitting) I love to craft! I've tried my hand at scrapbooking (but my projects never turn out quite well, and the only book i've made that i'm really proud of, i managed to lose), I love painting with acrylics and watercolor, and I've recently gotten back into knitting (I've done a bunch of hats and scarves, have become frustrated with my first pair of mittens, and just started on my first sweater). I love taking polaroid and fish-eye pictures, you never know how they might turn out!I just recently found Sublime Stitching, and I would love to try my hand at embroidery!

I can't wait to post my art and crafty projects here as they get done (or require more inspiration)!
